Bold action to improve urban areas is urgently needed, at an unprecedented scale and pace. Such action would help reduce the existential threats from the climate crisis. 

 

Rather than require sacrifice, changes would make cities more livable places where people can enjoy healthier and happier lives in safe environments, with strong, resilient communities. But while we can see examples of positive change in many places, the transition to livable cities needs to happen much faster. Failure to act fast will lead to avoidable deaths, physical disabilities and disease, and the destruction of our vital ecosystem.
